Department of Gender Studies analyzes the concept of gender from a multi-dimensional perspective such as from theoretical, methodological and practical perspectives. The courses given by this department focuses more on the economic, political, social and cultural constructions of gender and addresses the dynamic relations between gender and contemporary political and socio-economic structure. The students, thus, trace the influence of gender construction while analyzing many socio-political and historical events although this influence has historically been ignored until recently. The major study fields of this department could be defined as women problems, masculinity studies, the historical development of the feminist movement in Turkey and in the world, political representation of women, the roles of women in economy, gender and law.
