Biography

She received Bachelor of Science degree from the Landscape Architecture Department of Ankara University in 1992. She got her Master of Science Degree from Landscape Department of Ankara University, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, in 1995. She received Philosophy of Doctorate degree in 2002 from the same Institute. The second master's degree which was managed by the cooperation of International Technology University Paris and Ankara University Master Degree in Environmental Management in 1995. She received her Diploma in the field of "Public Administration and Urban Governance“ in 2001 from the Erasmus University, Institute of Housing Studies. Between 1993-2002, she worked as a Research Assistant at Ankara University, Institute of Applied Science, Department of Landscape Architecture; from 2003-2009, she worked as a research assistant at Public Administration Institute for Turkey and Middle East (TODAİE). She has served as Associate Professor (2010-2014) in the field of City, Environment and Local Governments, and she has served Professor of ”Urban Policies“ , until July 2018, when TODAİE was closed down.Between 2003 and 2009, she worked as an assistant manager at the Local Administrations Research and Training Center, and as the Director of Local Governments between 2009-2018, two periods (2014-2018) she served as TODAIE Deputy General Director. Since October 2018, she has been working as a professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University of Social Sciences, Department of Urbanization and Environmental Issues in Political Science and Public Administration. Her areas of expertise are disaster management, local governments, urban and environmental issues. She has many articles, books, research reports, conference papers on these fields and in many projects she has duties as project manager and researcher. She served as a journalist and a member of various peer-reviewed journals and TODAİE journals. She is an editor of the Resilience Journal. She teaches undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses on urbanization, urban policies, disaster management, environmental policies, environmental management and environmental impact assessment (EIA).
